Biotechnological route for biobased vanillin production from alkaline lignin using Rhodotorula glutinis Y1

This study targeted yeast strain Rhodotorula glutinis Y1 for its lignin degradation potential and production of value-added aromatics vanillin and ferulic acid using alkaline lignin substrate and demonstrates proof of concept for biobased vanillin production from lignin.
