Melioribacter sulfuriphilus sp. nov., facultatively anaerobic thermophilic sulfur- and thiosulfate-respiring bacterium from Karmadon hot springs of North Ossetia (Russian Federation).

According to the 16S rRNA gene sequence and conserved protein sequences phylogenies, the strains represented a new species of the genus Melioribacter of family Melioribacteraceae within the class Ignavibacteria, for which the name Melioribacter sulfuriphilus sp.

Novel Thermophilic Species of Limisphaera Demonstrate Facultatively Anaerobic Mode of Life and Utilize a Wide Range of Carbohydrates

Two novel facultatively anaerobic thermophilic members of the genus Limisphaera (Verrucomicrobiota), strains 4302-coT and VF2T, were isolated from terrestrial hot springs of Geyser Valley and the Lake Baikal region, Russia and assigned to two novel species.
