The article presents a definition and complex consideration of such a phenomenon of the Russian theological tradition of the first half of the 20th century as kenotic Eucharistology. The kenotic doctrine of the Eucharist is considered in connection with other subtypes of Russian kenoticism. In the article, the main representatives of kenotic Eucharistology of the period under consideration are identified: holy martyr Alexander Tuberovsky, priest Anatoly Zhurakovsky, archpriest Sergiy Bulgakov, and archimandrite Cyprian (Kern); the conceptions of the thinkers are reconstructed, and the problems characteristic of them are indicated. The main statements of the analyzed phenomenon are the following: the Eucharist is understood as the culmination of kenotic (sacrificial, self-limiting) acts of God, which began in the creation of the world; the biblical justification for the idea of God’s kenotic actions is given through the image of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world (1 Pet 1, 18–20; Rev 13, 8). Cosmic, Christological and liturgical sacrifices are connected through the image of the apocalyptic Lamb. In its most developed form, kenotic Eucharistology is found in the legacy of Fr. Sergiy Bulgakov, in which an important place belongs not only to the idea of the sacrificial nature of God’s actions in the world but also to the idea of the sacrificial nature of the relationship among the Persons of the Holy Trinity.
