PD-1 regulates CD8+ T cell tissue resident memory differentiation and function following influenza infection 2260210

In addition to its established role in T cell exhaustion, PD-1 is also upregulated in CD8+ tissue-resident memory (TRM) cells. Here, we examine the cell-intrinsic contributions of PD-1 to CD8+ TRM cell generation and function during influenza infection by comparing wild-type (WT) and PD-1 knockout (KO) antigen-specific CD8+ T cells. Transcriptional and epigenetic profiling of these populations reveals early and persistent changes in transcriptional regulation and fate decisions. Our findings provide new insight into how PD-1 signaling influences the differentiation and function of CD8+ T cells. This work was supported by funding from AbbVie.
