Improved glycemic control with the MiniMed 780G system in latent autoimmune diabetes and type 1 diabetes: a real-world observational study.

AIMS To evaluate the effectiveness of the Medtronic MiniMed™ 780G Automated Hybrid Closed Loop System (AHCLS) in insulin-treated patients with latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (LADA). METHODS Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) data and clinical records were collected from individuals with LADA using the MiniMed™ 780G. Participants were BMI-matched with individuals with LADA treated with multiple daily injections (MDI) + CGM and with people with type 1 diabetes (T1D) using either AHCLS or MDI + CGM. Multivariable regression models adjusted for age, sex, and diabetes duration were used to assess the effect of AHCLS on CGM metrics. Differences in treatment effect between LADA and T1D were evaluated through an interaction analysis. RESULTS AHCLS users showed higher time in range (TIR) than people on MDI (80 [71-87]% vs. 62 [50-75]%, p < 0.001) with no significant differences in the effect of AHCLS on TIR between people with LADA and T1D (p-interaction = 0.53). The percentages of patients meeting all CGM targets were 22.2% and 14.3% among people with LADA and T1D treated with MDI, and 54.4% and 77.8%, among those using AHCLS (p-value < 0.001; p-interaction = 0.39). CONCLUSIONS MiniMed™ 780G markedly improves glycemic control in people with LADA, supporting AHCLS as an effective therapeutic strategy in this population.
