Performance Evaluation of Reliable Data Dissemination in VANETs under Varying Node Densities using NS-3
VANET, an essential component of ITS, provides effective communication when prompt action is needed. However, data dissemination is an issue because VANET is known for its mobility and dynamic nature. Using ns-3 simulations, the study assesses the effectiveness of data dissemination in VANET. The procedure takes into account UDP traffic flow with a packet size of 1024 bytes and a node density of 5 to 30. Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR), delay, and throughput are a few of the crucial factors. From the result, it is clear that while dense networks suffer from congestion issues resulting in a low PDR of 11.59%, low throughput of ~120 bps, and high delay of ~8 ms, sparse networks provide outstanding reliability with a PDR of 76%, throughput of ~760 bps, and low latency/delay of ~1.3 ms. Performance and reliability are reasonably well balanced for medium node density cases. The study emphasizes the importance of using adaptive distribution systems in situations where vehicles are dynamically moving.
