Tirzepatide versus other glucose-lowering therapies and risk of COPD exacerbations in patients with comorbid type 2 diabetes: a retrospective cohort study

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and type 2 diabetes (T2D) frequently coexist, sharing inflammatory and metabolic pathways. Tirzepatide (TZP), a dual glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide and glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist, has demonstrated metabolic and anti-inflammatory effects. Howev...

Prior Use of GLP-1 Receptor Agonists versus SGLT2 Inhibitors and Clinical Outcomes After Sepsis in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes: A Propensity Score-Matched Cohort Study

Background Whether pre-existing glucose-lowering therapy influences outcomes after sepsis remains uncertain. We compared clinical outcomes among patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) who developed sepsis according to prior GLP-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) or SGLT2 inhibitors (SGLT2is) use. Methods We conducted a retros...

Explainable Machine Learning Models for Predicting Functional and Pain Recovery After Fragility Fracture Surgery

Background: Recovery after hip fragility fracture surgery is heterogeneous. Explainable machine learning (ML) may help identify factors associated with short-term recovery during inpatient rehabilitation. Methods: This retrospective exploratory cohort included 88 patients who underwent surgery at our institution or two...

Associations Between Glucagon-like Peptide-1 Receptor Agonists and Respiratory Outcomes in Chronic Obstructive pulmonary disease and Diabetes.

BACKGROUND Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is frequently complicated by acute respiratory failure, pneumonia, exacerbations, and premature mortality, particularly in patients with comorbid type 2 diabetes (T2D). Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) possess anti-inflammatory and metabolic pr...

Sepsis and Infectious Outcomes for GLP-r Agonists in CKD plus Type 2 Diabetes.

In patients with CKD and type 2 diabetes mellitus, use of GLP-1RA is associated with lower risks of sepsis, all-cause mortality, pneumonia, urinary tract infection, and COVID-19 compared with DPP-4i, while the risk of septic shock was similar between groups.
