Human Rights Issues in the Digital Era

The rapid growth of digital technologies such as the internet, artificial intelligence, social media, and big data has transformed modern societies, creating both opportunities and challenges for human rights. This study examines how digitalization affects fundamental rights including privacy, freedom of expression, access to information, equality, and non-discrimination. Key concerns include data surveillance, misuse of personal information, algorithmic bias, cyber harassment, misinformation, and the digital divide. Using a literature review and policy analysis approach, the research evaluates digital governance models and regulatory frameworks aimed at protecting digital rights. The findings show that while digital technologies promote transparency, communication, and civic participation, they also create new risks that require strong legal, ethical, and technological safeguards. The study emphasizes the need for international cooperation among governments, technology companies, and civil society to ensure accountability and protect human dignity in the digital age.
