T cell exhaustion in sepsis: mechanisms, biomarkers, and immune-reversal strategies

These findings indicate that septic T-cell exhaustion is not a direct replica of exhaustion in cancer or chronic viral infection, but a context-dependent and potentially reversible immune dysfunction state.
