Fostering a Green Organizational Culture: Key Drivers and Sustainable Outcomes in the Context of Emerging Economies
Despite increasing pressures for environmental sustainability, organizations in emerging economies face challenges in fostering a green organizational culture (GOC) and transforming it into sustainable outcomes. Drawing on Institutional Theory and the Conservation of Resources Theory, this study examines key drivers of GOC, including green human resource management, green transformational leadership, and employees' environmental concerns, and how GOC subsequently influences employee green behavior (EGB) and organizational environmental performance. Survey data from 384 employees in Egypt's industrial sector were analyzed using PLS‐SEM. Results indicate that the identified drivers significantly strengthen GOC, which in turn enhances EGB and environmental performance. Demographic factors—age, education, and tenure—moderate these relationships. By empirically validating this framework, the study provides actionable insights for managers to embed sustainability into daily operations and align corporate social responsibility with measurable environmental outcomes in emerging economy contexts.
