Binge-eating behavior and anorexia nervosa have shared and distinct genetic components
Although both eating disorder phenotypes correlate genetically with other psychiatric conditions, binge eating also correlates with impulsivity, earlier age at first menstrual cycle and increased body mass, whereas anorexia nervosa shares genetics with metabolic traits.
