Species distribution models predict genome-wide polymorphism and gene flow in an endangered amphibian.

Species distribution models (SDMs) are widely used to predict habitat suitability but their usefulness and accuracy for inferring population health is still debated. Here, we evaluate whether SDM-derived relative habitat suitability (RHS) predicts genome-wide genetic diversity and connectivity-which are key proxies for...

Frogs have layers: a comparative histological study of colour polymorphism in Oophaga poison frogs

Spectral reflectance measurements correlated significantly with chromatophore traits, supporting a link between skin histology and colour phenotype, and suggest that colouration in Oophaga arises from less conserved chromatophore unit structure, reflecting diverse evolutionary routes to equivalent colouration.

Transcriptomic signatures of carotenoid-based color polytypism in Oophaga granulifera (Anura: Dendrobatidae).

Gene ontology enrichments indicate that, along with the carotenoid metabolism genes, red frogs upregulate the metabolism of amino acids, lipids and the mitochondrial energy production, markedly in the liver but also in the skin.
