Lightweight weapon detection via fractional-order Legendre polynomials for smart edge devices

Fractional-order Legendre polynomials are used to encode multi-scale weapon shape and then verify candidates with a light classifier, which gives strong accuracy with a very small feature budget for real-time surveillance applications in constrained environments such as smart homes and IoT-based security systems.
