Loss of Nemp1 disrupts female meiosis and activates a conserved ATM-CHK2 checkpoint

It is shown that loss of the nuclear-envelope protein NEMP1 leads to female infertility in both flies and mice, due to DNA damage in oocytes and activation of an ATM-CHK2 checkpoint.
