LOGISTICS IN BIOGAS PRODUCTION FROM SWINE PRODUCTION WASTE: AN INTEGRATIVE REVIEW

Biogas produced through the anaerobic digestion of swine manure constitutes a strategic alternative for renewable energy generation, agricultural effluent treatment, and greenhouse gas emission reduction, especially considering that Brazil is the world's fourth-largest producer of pork. The technical and economic feasibility of this production chain depends, however, on its logistical organization, which encompasses everything from manure collection to energy distribution and digestate disposal. This study conducted an integrative literature review on the logistical aspects of swine biogas production. The analysis showed that logistical efficiency related to plant location, transport distance, production scale, and integration among the links of the chain is decisive for the feasibility of projects. The articulation among manure, biodigester, energy, and biofertilizer, under the logic of the circular economy and reverse logistics, represents a promising path toward the sustainability of Brazilian swine farming. It is concluded that technological advances and integrated public policies are necessary to overcome the logistical, economic, and social barriers that still limit the expansion of swine biogas in the country.
