HULAT-UC3M at TSAR 2025 Shared Task: A Prompt-Based Approach using Lightweight Language Models for Readability-Controlled Text Simpliﬁcation

The participation of the HULAT-UC3M team in the TSAR 2025 Shared Task on Readability-Controlled Text Simplification is described, and their approach uses open and lightweight Large Language Models with different sizes, together with two strategies for prompt engineering.

Benchmark of small language models for plain-language simplification in Spanish clinical texts

This work presents the first benchmark of small language models for Spanish clinical plain-language adaptation and introduces MEDICLARO, a corpus specifically designed for this task, and establishes a solid foundation for integrating small language models into Spanish clinical workflows.
