A single-center open-label, randomized, parallel-group controlled clinical trial on the long-term effect of the treatment with EGb 761 in blood markers of inflammation and neurodegeneration in patients with mild cognitive impairment: ACE-2020-EGb 761.

BackgroundNeuroinflammation plays a central role in Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathology and other dementias. EGb 761, a standardized Ginkgo biloba extract, has shown potential anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective properties.ObjectiveThis study evaluated the effects of EGb 761 on plasma proteins related to inflammation...

Predictive value of the Alzheimer polygenic risk score on cognitive decline in patients with mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer's disease dementia

Although polygenic burden contributes to variability in cognitive trajectories, its added predictive value beyond routinely available clinical variables remains modest.

Alzheimer’s disease polygenic risk score associates with hippocampal subfield atrophy and immune-related genetic mechanism

Specific AD-SNPs enriched in immune-brain axis pathways rather than Aβ related processes, were associated with reduced volumes of CA1 and subiculum prior to dementia onset, which supports that AD-PRS may capture genetic susceptibility to concomitant neurodegenerative diseases frequently misdiagnosed as AD.
