Epistemologi Bayani dan Implemetasinya terhadap Motivasi Santri dalam Penggunaan Ilmu Alat

This study comprehensively explores the manifestations of bayani epistemology within the pesantren intellectual tradition and its psycho-pedagogical implications for santri (students) motivation in mastering ilmu alat (instrumental sciences: Nahwu, Sharaf, Balaghah, and Manthiq). As a pillar of traditional Islamic reasoning that prioritizes the text (nash) above all else, bayani epistemology inherently demands a high level of linguistic proficiency as a prerequisite for valid religious interpretation. Employing a qualitative approach utilizing hermeneutic-philosophical analysis and an educational psychology framework (Self-Determination Theory) this library-based research examines how the structure of bayani reasoning transforms into a driving force for santri as they navigate the complexities of ilmu alat. The findings indicate that the internalization of bayani epistemology significantly boosts intrinsic motivation through the sacralization of texts and spiritual devotion, while simultaneously reinforcing extrinsic motivation by conferring symbolic capital within the pesantren social hierarchy. The study recommends restructuring the teaching of ilmu alat in pesantren settings; rather than merely emphasizing rote memorization, instruction should foster methodological and epistemological awareness to cultivate academic resilience among santri in the contemporary era.
