A putative type IVB secretion system contributes to the pathogenicity of Yersinia pseudotuberculosis lineage 8 strains associated with the Far East scarlet-like fever

Abstract Yersinia pseudotuberculosis is a food-borne pathogen responsible for a self-limiting mesenteric lymphadenitis. Yersinia pseudotuberculosis lineages 1 and 8 are also associated to the Far East scarlet-like fever (FESLF) syndrome, characterized by skin rash, hyperemic tongue, and desquamation. Genome sequencing...

Functional redundancy, complementation, and cross-talk between CH25h and IFITM3 in infection and in IFITM3 trafficking and secretion

ABSTRACT Type I interferon induces multiple protein effectors to inhibit viral replication. Among these, the interferon-induced transmembrane protein (IFITM3) and the cholesterol-25-hydroxylase (CH25h) converge on the inhibition of viral entry by altering the behavior of membranes. Here, we dissect the functional and m...

MITD1 restricts HIV-1 release by targeting ESCRT-III proteins.

It is shown that MITD1, a cell type-specific interferon-stimulated gene, is a potent inhibitor of ESCRT-dependent HIV-1 budding, and is established as an interferon-stimulated restriction factor that limits HIV-1 egress by perturbing ESCRT-III assembly.
