Pharmacological inhibitors of the nonsense-mediated RNA decay identified by high-throughput screening.

Three possible candidates acting as NMD inhibitors/modulators that could increase CFTR rescue in patients with PTCs are identified, namely CC-115, samotolisib and elimusertib, and are validated by secondary assays.

This data indicates that modulation of autophagy operates as a protective mechanism in Wilson’s disease and leads to the hypothesis that modulation of autophagy leads to down-regulation of proapoptotic factors.
