A Survey on Resource Allocation Technologies in Integrated Access and Backhaul Networks
Integrated access and backhaul (IAB) has emerged as a practical alternative to fiber-based backhauling in 5G and beyond networks, particularly in dense millimeter-wave deployments. As IAB systems evolve toward multi-hop and heterogeneous architectures incorporating aerial and satellite nodes, resource allocation becomes a critical challenge due to the strong coupling between access and backhaul. This paper reviews the main resource allocation methods in IAB networks. It further analyzes the key system parameters that influence allocation decisions and examines their impact on network performance.
