The Importance of Contextual Information in Clinical Decision Support: A Neonatal-Sepsis Case Study
The design of an explainable interface for a sepsis prediction model in the neonatal intensive care unit of the Wilhelmina Children’s Hospital shows that for the sepsis algorithm to be an effective decision support, relevant contextual information is required by clinicians to interpret and validate ML predictions.
