Metabolism meets inflammation: lactate and lactylation in inflammatory pathogenesis

This review summarizes the metabolic mechanisms underlying lactate production and lactylation within the inflammatory microenvironment, and discusses how the lactate-lactylation axis relates to the dynamic “alteration-exudation-proliferation” trajectory of inflammation.
