Automatización y autonomía moral: ¿puede el desarrollador de la inteligencia artificial salvar sus circunstancias?

The growing use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) raises new ethical dilemmas on various scales and with different possibilities for analysis and evaluation. Indeed, people are increasingly interacting with these systems through chatbots that allow for diverse forms of creative expression and—though it may seem contradictory—ways of being that are not so different. Drawing on the philosophy of Ortega y Gasset—specifically the concepts of “circumstances” and “desire”—this paper highlights the moral responsibility that falls on generations of AI developers, as well as on users who, by interacting with AI, contribute to its improvement. These reflections compel us to consider which desires we want to see realised when using or developing AI, underscoring the need for all of us to play an active role in shaping the possibilities that AI offers to current and future generations.
