Association Between Oral Frailty and Body Mass Index in Late-Stage Older Adults Stratified by Sarcopenia Status

Among late-stage older adults at risk of sarcopenia, oral frailty was associated with both obesity and underweight, with different contributing factors identified for each BMI category.

Changes in salivary brain-derived neurotrophic factor following a standardized eating task in community-dwelling older adults: a cross-sectional study.

Salivary BDNF levels significantly decreased after the standardized eating task and did not correlate with plasma BDNF levels, suggesting that salivary BDNF may not serve as a simple surrogate marker for systemic BDNF levels in community-dwelling older adults.
