Beyond compensation: Organized pathological hematopoiesis in the myelofibrotic spleen.

Two studies in this issue of Cell Stem Cell show that splenic extramedullary hematopoiesis in myelofibrosis develops within a remodeled hematopoietic, immune, and stromal environment.
