Bridging Technology and Moral Agency: Qualitative Analysis of AI Co-Pilot Adoption in Contemporary Classrooms
The rapid proliferation of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in education threatens student academic integrity and diminishes critical thinking through unguided automation. This study investigates how educational institutions can strategically integrate AI as a collaborative co-pilot rather than a substitute for genuine cognitive effort. Employing a qualitative desk research method, this paper critically synthesizes global pedagogical frameworks and institutional policy shifts published between 2021 and 2026. The findings reveal that successful digital integration relies not on strict surveillance or software detection, but on shifting classrooms toward process-oriented learning workflows. Ultimately, this research concludes that reintroducing productive cognitive friction into assignment designs can safeguard student character. The practical implication of this study offers educators an actionable framework to transform AI tools from a plagiarism threat into a catalyst for ethical reasoning and long-term digital resilience.
