Oxidative stress-responsive cell wall remodeling depends on phosphate in Candida albicans

The growing number of patients susceptible to invasive Candida albicans infections has intensified the need for effective antifungal targets in pathways essential for fungal growth and pathogenesis. Among these pathways, phosphate homeostasis has emerged as a significant determinant of virulence, yet how phosphate avai...

Cascading damage to Candida albicans cells through thioredoxin reductase loss

It is proposed that metabolic pathway competition for this shared intermediate between NADPH production and cell wall glucan biosynthesis underlies the cell wall weakness of TRR1-depleted cells, and decreased activity of a key UDP-glucose biosynthetic enzyme supports this mechanism.
