Structural Conservation and Assembly Plasticity of a Divergent Phenuivirus Nucleoprotein

TcTV2 NP combines a predicted phenuivirus-like core with experimentally observed RNA association and heterogeneous ring-like particle formation, while the computational analyses nominate the electropositive groove as a candidate surface for further ligand interaction studies.

Structural insights into the nairovirus nucleoprotein endonuclease activity.

Results reveal an expanded functional repertoire of nairovirus NPs and suggest that NP-mediated RNA discrimination may contribute to viral replication, and support the feasibility of targeting NP for the development of antiviral drugs against emerging nairoviruses.
