NfL levels are elevated in AD and decrease with early abstinence and may predict DT occurrence, highlighting neuroaxonal pathology in its pathophysiology, and the potential of integrating pharmacogenetics with objective biomarker (NfL) to characterize DT phenotype and recovery in AUD is highlighted.
