Global Reanalysis Reveals Recurrent Cyanobacterial Enrichment in the Aquatic Plastisphere.

Recurrent cyanobacterial enrichment in plastisphere communities is demonstrated and co-occurrence patterns between cyanobacteria and heterotrophic taxa are identified, generating hypotheses regarding possible phototroph-heterotroph linkages on plastic surfaces that warrant experimental investigation.
