MVEI&EmObserver: Empowering MLLM-Oriented Visual Emotional Intelligence via Emotion Statement Judgement

Affective Image Content Analysis (AICA) aims to recognize and understand emotions elicited by visual content, representing an indispensable step toward Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). However, despite the rapid progress of Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs), systematic evaluation of their visual emotional intelligence remains largely absent from recent model releases. We attribute this gap to a structural mismatch between conventional AICA paradigms and the open-ended, instruction-driven nature of MLLMs, where further analysis reveals four major limitations: omission of plausible responses, limited emotion taxonomies, neglect of contextual factors, and labor-intensive annotation. To overcome these barriers, we introduce Emotion Statement Judgement (ESJ), a statement-verification formulation that preserves the expressiveness of the input space while constraining outputs to discriminative judgements. We further develop INSETS, a labor-efficient pipeline that instantiates ESJ at scale by constructing INSETS-462k and supporting MVEI, a rigorously refined benchmark spanning sentiment polarity, emotion interpretation, scene context, and perception subjectivity. Beyond evaluation, we build EmObserver, an emotion-oriented MLLM optimized on ESJ through an elaborate multi-stage recipe. Extensive evaluation of broad-spectrum MLLMs on MVEI reveals fine-grained insights into current artificial visual emotional intelligence, while experiments on multiple AICA benchmarks demonstrate the accuracy, generalization, and reasoning faithfulness of EmObserver. Collectively, these results establish ESJ as a practical formulation, MVEI as a comprehensive benchmark, and EmObserver as an advanced baseline for advancing MLLM-oriented visual emotional intelligence. Code will be released at: https://github.com/wdqqdw/EmObserver.

Orthogonal Knowledge Refreshing for Domain-Incremental Object Detection

Domain-incremental object detection (DIOD) requires models to continually adapt to new domains while preserving prior knowledge. Recently, parameter-efficient fine-tuning offers a promising avenue, wherein a pre-trained model is frozen and a small number of learnable parameters are injected for downstream tasks. However, these methods risk overwriting critical past knowledge, triggering inter-domain interference and performance degradation. To address this challenge, we propose Orthogonal Knowledge Refreshing (OKR), a simple yet effective framework for DIOD. OKR incrementally constructs independent domain-specific subspaces via dedicated low-rank branches for each domain, which are seamlessly fused for a holistic decision, enabling conflict-free capacity expansion without domain selection during inference. To minimize knowledge interference during fusion, we present a gradient-based orthogonal refreshing strategy that projects gradient updates of new domains onto the orthogonal complement of the fused historical subspace, supporting continual adaptation without forgetting. Moreover, to mitigate semantic fragmentation across domains, we enforce topology-aware consistency, aligning the semantic structures of old and new domains. Extensive experiments validate the superiority of OKR, outperforming the best exemplar-free method by significant margins of +5.6% and +6.5% mAP on the Pascal VOC and BDD100K series, respectively.

HunyuanOCR-1.5: Making Lightweight OCR VLMs Faster and Better

We present HunyuanOCR-1.5, a lightweight end-to-end OCR-specialized vision-language model. HunyuanOCR unifies document parsing, text spotting, information extraction, text-image translation, and multi-image document understanding within a single end-to-end VLM. Building upon the lightweight architecture of HunyuanOCR-1.0, HunyuanOCR-1.5 does not redesign the backbone, but systematically improves both efficiency and capability. For efficiency, we adapt DFlash to OCR decoding, significantly reducing the latency of long structured outputs such as dense documents, tables, and formulas while preserving output distribution. Powered by DFlash, HunyuanOCR-1.5 achieves a 6.37x Transformer inference speedup and a 2.14x speedup under vLLM, delivering the fastest inference among lightweight OCR VLMs. For capability, we propose Agentic Data Flow, an agent-driven data construction system that transforms model weaknesses into executable data requirements and autonomously performs material search, quality verification, and pipeline development. It substantially improves long-tail capabilities in ancient-script OCR, fine-grained chart and table parsing, multi-image text-centric QA, low-resource multilingual parsing, and document hallucination evaluation. HunyuanOCR-1.5 ranks among the top-tier end-to-end OCR solutions on OmniDocBench v1.6 while achieving new performance milestones across these long-tail tasks. Combined with an upgraded pretraining and post-training recipe, HunyuanOCR-1.5 further extends its capability in high-resolution, long-context, and multi-task scenarios. Experiments demonstrate faster inference, broader OCR capability coverage, and the deployment advantages of a lightweight end-to-end model. We will release the model weights and training code to support future research and real-world OCR applications.

Open-Set Visual Text Forensics via Sparse-Constraint Rectified Flow

A generative detector that localizes tampering by estimating the local restoration cost required to align a query image with authentic visual-text statistics, rather than by learning forgery-specific decision boundaries is proposed, and Sparse-Constraint Rectified Flow is introduced, a detector-oriented adaptation of Flow Matching for spatially sparse anomaly localization.
