Abstract

To meet the high-precision timing control requirements for voltage source insertion in synthetic tests, this paper investigates zero-crossing prediction of asymmetric power-frequency short-circuit currents. Two prediction algorithms—the variable forgetting factor recursive least squares (VFF-RLS) method and the improved fast Fourier transform (FFT) method—are derived and compared. Simulation analyses are conducted under noise interference and harmonic distortion conditions. A hardware platform based on the TMS320F28335 DSP is developed for experimental verification. The results demonstrate that the trigger pulse can be stably output within 500–800 μs prior to the current zero-crossing, satisfying the precision requirements for voltage source insertion in synthetic tests.
