Abstract

Beans represent an important food source throughout the world, being a staple in diet due to their ease of cultivation and management. In the North and Northeast of Brazil, the consumption of cowpeas (Vigna unguiculata L. Walp) is very significant. Through this work, sought to demonstrate the effect of coinoculation on cowpea using Azospirillum brasilense and Rhizobium tropici in second crop cultivation in the western region of Bahia. The experimental design was in randomized blocks with four treatments and four replications. The experiment was carried out in the field, using the Pingo de Ouro landrace variety with the following treatments: T1 without inoculant, T2 with Rhizobium tropici, T3 with Azospirillum brasilense and T4 with both. The variables of quantity and weight of nodules, root length and weight (cm), weight of fresh leaves (g), weight of dry leaves (g) and stem weight (g) were analyzed in V5 and R1, as well as such as the analysis of plant tissue in V5 and R1, and bromatological analysis of harvested grains.

Co-inoculation with Rhizobium leguminosarum bv. viciae and Azospirillum brasilense outperforms nitrogen fertilisation in terms of yield, crude protein content, and profitability of green pea (Pisum sativum L.) cultivation in the Peruvian Andes

Green pea ( Pisum sativum L.) is a key crop for food security in communities of the Peruvian Andes; however, its productivity is constrained by low soil fertility and the high cost of nitrogen fertilisers. In this context, the effects of co-inoculation with Rhizobium leguminosarum bv. viciae (strain Ar-014) and...

Performance of cowpea lines inoculated with Bradyrhizobium pachyrhizi based on the MGIDI index

ABSTRACT Cowpea is a legume that holds significant importance in human nutrition. However, the national average yield is considered low, influenced by biotic and abiotic factors. The objective was to evaluate and select cowpea lines under the influence of Bradyrhizobium pachyrhizi as a nitrogen (N) alternative for mult...

GROWTH RESPONSE OF COFFEE (Coffea arabica L.) TO MYCORRHIZAL INOCULATION (Glomus sp.) DURING THE NURSERY STAGE

Coffee is one of the most representative agricultural products of Colombia and worldwide, particularly in the Huila Department, due to its high production and excellent quality. As coffee is a crop of high economic value and is increasingly affected by the impacts of climate change, it is essential that the nursery sta...

Effect of Rhizobium spp. Inoculation on Growth and Grain Yield of Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata) Under Greenhouse and Ex Vitro Conditions

Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp.) is an agriculturally important legume capable of establishing symbiotic associations with nitrogen-fixing bacteria. Biological nitrogen fixation through Rhizobium spp. represents a potential agroecological strategy for improving crop productivity while reducing dependence on inorga...

Patogenicidad cruzada de especies de Rhizoctonia asociadas a papa, frijol y maíz en Sinaloa, México

Rhizoctonia is an economically important disease in agricultural crops. The objective of this study was to evaluate the pathogenicity of Rhizoctonia species associated with potato, bean, and maize in original hosts and cross-inoculations. Twenty-four isolates were collected during the 2021–2022 fall-winter growing seas...
