This retrospective observational study evaluated the short‐term and long‐term efficacy of conservative therapies in 194 LDH patients from Iran to determine whether conservative management can mitigate surgical interventions.

Abstract

Lumbar disc herniation (LDH), a leading cause of low back pain, necessitates effective conservative management to mitigate surgical interventions. This retrospective observational study evaluated the short‐term (6 months–2 years) and long‐term (3–6 years) efficacy of conservative therapies in 194 LDH patients from Iran.

the AdIS:DN ratio. The authors state that baseline differences were “corrected” by calculating baseline-to-one-year difference scores and that weak correlations between selected baseline variables and ODI change rendered those differences not relevant. 1 However, change-score analysis does not itself adjust for confoun...

Multimodal Conservative Management of Lumbar Disc Herniation with Radicular Symptoms and Gait Impairment Using Underwater Lumbar Extension in A Patient Refusing Surgical Intervention

Lumbar disc herniation (LDH) with radiculopathy may lead to significant functional impairment, including gait disturbance and pain-related disability. While surgical decompression is indicated in severe cases, many patients opt for conservative rehabilitation-based management.

Radiological alignment versus functional outcomes in fifth metacarpal neck fractures – a narrative review

Introduction and Objective. Fifth metacarpal neck fractures are common, but optimal treatment remains controversial because anatomical reduction does not consistently predict functional recovery. The aim of the narrative review is to examine the relationship between radiographic deformity and patient-important outcomes...

Mini‐Open Versus Open Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion in Patients Aged ≥ 75 Years: Perioperative Surgical Burden and Clinical Outcomes

Patients aged ≥ 75 years are at increased risk of perioperative stress and delayed early recovery after lumbar fusion, making the choice of surgical approach clinically relevant. However, direct comparative data on mini‐open transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (MO‐TLIF) and conventional open TLIF in this population...
