METHODS FOR ASSESSING THE AIR QUALITY OF LARGE RUSSIAN CITIES

Aug 2026 · FROM A GREEN ECONOMY TO A GREEN REGION: ADAPTATION AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT : Materials of the International Scientific and Practical Conference, Voronezh, April 17, 2026 · 0 citations

Abstract

The atmospheric air of large cities is exposed to a variety of anthropogenic sources of pollution, among which emissions from motor vehicles, industrial enterprises, thermal power plants and boiler installations occupy a special place. Air pollutants have a negative impact on public health, causing an increase in respiratory diseases, cardiovascular pathologies and allergic reactions. Reliable and modern methods of monitoring and analyzing the composition of atmospheric impurities are needed to effectively solve the problems associated with air pollution. This article analyzes the methods used to assess the quality of atmospheric air in large cities of Russia (St. Petersburg, Moscow and Voronezh), identifies the main trends in pollution levels, and suggests ways to improve the existing air quality control system.
