Abstract
The low productivity of potatoes in Indonesia is attributed to the use of low-quality seed tubers, limited agricultural land, and suboptimal cultivation practices. Therefore, the application of gibberellin-inhibiting growth regulators may serve as a strategy to improve potato productivity, including paclobutrazol and prohexadione-Ca. This study aimed to determine the effects of paclobutrazol, prohexadione-Ca, and supplementary fertilization on the growth and yield of G2 potato seed tubers of the Medians cultivar. The experiment was conducted from October 2025 to January 2026 at PT. Horti Agro Makro, Cisurupan District, Garut, West Java, located at an altitude of approximately ± 800 m asl. The experimental design used was a Split Plot Design. The first factor, assigned as the main plot, consisted of growth retardants: paclobutrazol at 100 ppm and prohexadione-Ca at 100 ppm. The second factor, assigned as the subplot, consisted of supplementary fertilizer treatments: Urea, Urea + ZA, Urea + MgSO4, and Urea + Humate NPK. The results showed a significant interaction between paclobutrazol and Urea + MgSO4 on tuber water content (76.14%). Paclobutrazol application had a significant independent effect in reducing plant height, and leaf area index, while increasing tuber weight (752.39 g). The application of Urea + MgSO4 as a supplementary fertilizer significantly reduced the plant height, while increasing the tuber weight, and specific gravity.
This experiment was conducted on potato plants at a private farm at Sin El-Baharya – Badr District Center, Beheira Governorate, Egypt, over the winter season of 2024/2025 and 2025/2026, focusing on the effect of different irrigation water quantity (IWQ) (1000, 1250, 1500 and 1750 (m3/fed.), K rates at 75, and 100 % of the recommended rate (RR) which equal 96 and 72 kg K2O/fed. respectively, humic acid (HA) at 0 and 10 kg/fed. as soil application and their interactions on the growth, and productivity, potassium and water use efficiency (KUE and WUE) , and quality of the tubers in a sandy soil. The experiment was carried out in a split-split plot design, in which the irrigation water amounts was the main plot, the sub plot varied the K rates and the HA rate occupied in the sub sub plot. The triple interaction among IWQ at 1500 m3/fed. and fertilizing potato plants with 75 % RR which equal 72 kg K2O kg/ fed. and HA at 10 kg /fed. as soil application was the best treatment for enhancing plant growth and productivity and KUE. In addition, this treatment led to a relative increase in the total yield by 5.8% and saved 250 m3/fed. water than the interaction among IWQ at 1750 m3/fed. , with the same of K and HA amounts in both seasons. While, IWQ at 1750 m3/fed. and fertilizing with K at 100 % (96 kg K2O/fed.) and HA at 10 kg /fed. produced the best tuber quality. On other side, the maximum WUE were obtained with the interaction among IWQ at 1000 m3 water/fed., K at 100 % RR and HA at 10 kg /feddan in both seasons.

Potato plants intensively consume mineral nutrients from the soil and respond positively to fertilizer application. To ensure a high-quality yield with high nutrient content and nitrate concentrations that meet sanitary requirements, it is necessary to develop a mineral fertilizer application system. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of mineral fertilizer doses on potato tuber yield and quality. The study was conducted from 2023 to 2025 in Komi Republic. The subject of the study was Pechorskiy variety. Field experiment scheme included the following treatments: no fertilizer (control), half, single (N48P48K48), one and a half and double doses of nitroammophoska (16:16:16). The fertilizer was applied manually by scattering before the emergence of potato plants, followed by incorporation during inter-row cultivation with a KON-2.8 cultivator-ridger to a depth of 5...7 cm. High responsiveness of potatoes to mineral fertilizers was revealed, ensuring the formation of a yield in the variant with a double dose of 35.7 t/ha with a dry matter content of 21.3%, starch - 12.7%, which exceeded the control by 17.1 t/ha, 1.8 and 1.9%, respectively. The nitrate content in tubers with an increase in fertilizer doses increased from 51.0 mg/kg in the control to 94.0 mg/kg in the variant with a double dose of NPK, but did not exceed the maximum permissible concentration (250 mg/kg). The productivity of marketable produce after storage averaged 91.0-92.8%, demonstrating the excellent shelf life of Pechorskiy potato variety, both when grown with and without high doses of mineral fertilizers. This is especially important for the northern regions of the Russian Federation, particularly Komi Republic, where tuber storage can last 8-9 months.

Beyond its role as a major source of dietary energy, potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) has a substantial contribution to food security. Increasing demand for potato production highlights the necessity of developing efficient and economically sustainable cultivation technologies. This study evaluated the effects of six fertilization systems on tuber yield and economic efficiency, including conventional, intensive conventional, organic, low-rate controlled-release, high-rate controlled-release, and conventional fertilization supplemented with potassium. For the study, two potato genotypes developed in the Potato Research and Development Station with different maturity were used: Secuiana (semi-early) and Redsec (semi-late). The study was performed under the pedoclimatic conditions of Târgu Secuiesc, Romania, during 2023–2025. Highly significant effects (p < 0.001) of year, genotype, fertilization system, and their interactions were observed. Climatic conditions were the primary factor influencing varietal performance, with mean yields ranging from 18.39 t ha−1 during the drought year (2025) to 36.18 t ha−1 in the favorable year (2024). The highest three-year average yield was obtained under the high-rate fertilization system (RV5) in the Redsec genotype (32.33 t ha−1), whereas within the Secuiana genotype, the organic fertilization system (SV4) achieved the greatest economic efficiency by combining relatively high productivity (27.67 t ha−1) with the lowest production costs (EUR 638.7 ha−1) and the highest yield-to-cost ratio. These findings demonstrate that optimized nutrient management can significantly improve potato yield and economic efficiency under variable climatic conditions.

The study was conducted to evaluate the impact of minimum tillage cultivation technologies on moisture availability, crop phytosanitary condition, yield, and soybean seed quality. The work was carried out in 2023-2025 in the Kursk region. The experimental design involved studying the following primary tillage options: traditional (ploughing to 23-25 cm); differentiated (chisel tillage to 23... 25 cm); minimum tillage (disking to 6-8 cm); and direct seeding (seeding without tillage). Mineral fertilizers (N17P45K45) were applied as a general background fertilizer in autumn under primary tillage (Amazone ZA-M 900) for traditional, differentiated, and minimum tillage technologies, and in the spring during soybean sowing (Don 114) for direct seeding. The soil is typical deep, heavy loamy chernozem with a humus content of 5.28%, available phosphorus and potassium of 200 and 127 mg/kg, respectively, and a pH of 5.3 units. Traditional soybean cultivation contributed to more efficient use of soil moisture compared to other studied options (a decrease in the water consumption coefficient by 57...123 m3/t). At the same time, the most favourable phytosanitary conditions were observed with its use (a decrease in the number of soil pest larvae by 28.3...41.9%, a decrease in the number of weeds during the critical period for the crop by 1.3...3.4 times, and a decrease in the number of weeds during the pre-harvest period by 2.0...2.2 times). This increased the thousand grain weight by 3.4...11.6 g, yield by 0.16...0.29 t/ha, and seed protein content by 0.47...2.12%. Key yield structure parameters were inversely related to the weed infestation indicators during the critical period for the crop: the number of weeds relative to the number of beans per m
2
(r=-0.51); weed dry matter relative to the thousand grain weight (r=-0.56).

Fertiliser source can influence crop growth and soil properties, but comparative information for pea cultivation under the mid-hill agro-climatic conditions of Himachal Pradesh remains limited. A field experiment was conducted at Panjiala Village, Kangra District, Himachal Pradesh, India, during the rabi season from December 2025 to March 2026 to evaluate the effects of organic and inorganic fertilisers on soil health and the growth performance of pea (Pisum sativum L.) cv. PB-89. The experiment was laid out in a randomised block design (RBD) with three treatments and three replications: T₁ (vermicompost applied at 5 t ha⁻¹, equivalent to 3.0 kg per gross plot), T₂ (seaweed-fortified granules applied at 416.7 kg ha⁻¹, equivalent to 250 g per gross plot), and T₃ (unfertilised control). The fertilisers were thoroughly incorporated into the soil before sowing, and observations were recorded from the net plot area (2.4 m × 1.8 m). Soil samples collected before sowing and after harvest were analysed for pH, electrical conductivity (EC), organic carbon, available phosphorus, potassium, sulphur, calcium, magnesium, soil texture, and soil colour. Plant height and number of leaves were recorded at weekly intervals from December to March. The organic treatment produced the greatest plant height (76.0 ± 8.25 cm) and number of leaves (79.0 ± 8.40) and increased soil organic carbon from 0.80% before sowing to 1.10% after harvest. In contrast, the inorganic treatment recorded the highest available phosphorus (32.8 kg ha⁻¹) and potassium (385.6 kg ha⁻¹) after harvest. Soil pH remained slightly to moderately acidic, while EC remained within the normal range under all treatments. These results suggest that vermicompost was more effective in improving vegetative growth and soil organic carbon, whereas seaweed-fortified granules enhanced the availability of phosphorus and potassium under the agro-climatic conditions of Himachal Pradesh.

Although nutrient management plays a crucial role in determining the productivity of barley (Hordeum vulgare L.), comparative information on the effectiveness of organic and inorganic nutrient sources under local conditions is still scarce. A field experiment was conducted during the 2024, Rabi season at Khairahani, Chitwan, to evaluate the effects of different nutrient sources on growth, yield, and profitability of barley var. Mustangey Jau. Using a randomized complete block design with five treatments-controls, chemical fertilizer NPK, poultry manure, farmyard manure, and vermicompost-each replicated four times, significant differences were observed in plant height, leaf area index, effective tillers, and grain yield. NPK fertilizer produced the highest plant height (94.80 cm), leaf area index (0.18), effective tillers (6.52), and grain yield (1.69 t/ha), followed by poultry manure and vermicompost. Organic sources improved growth over the control but yielded less than NPK. Economic analysis showed NPK achieved the highest net return and benefit-cost ratio (2.19), followed by poultry manure (1.34). Therefore, the application of recommended NPK fertilizer is suggested for maximizing barley yield and profitability, while poultry manure can be considered as a suitable organic alternative for improving productivity compared with other organic sources.
