We present qdmag, a computational utility for calculating the magnetization of magnetic molecules in a time-varying external magnetic field by solving a generalized Lindblad quantum master equation with spin-phonon coupling treated as a dissipation term. The package relies on the spin Hamiltonian formalism, which includes both the magnetic exchange interactions and the zero-field splitting (ZFS) interaction. Different types of magnetic exchange interaction and ZFS terms up to 12th order, which are written in terms of the extended Stevens operators, are supported. qdmag enables long-time evolution of magnetization for up to a few milliseconds, which is achieved through a staircase approximation of the magnetic field as a function of time. For high-dimensional spin Hamiltonians, a lower-dimensional effective Hamiltonian is constructed to make the calculations computationally feasible. Three case studies of one-spin, two-spin, and three-spin systems are presented to demonstrate the usage of qdmag. Our work offers a computational tool to bridge the gap between theoretical development and numerical calculations of spin dynamics in the presence of spin-phonon coupling.
A major application of analog quantum hardware is quantum simulation, where a system evolves over time according to a given Hamiltonian. One challenge when implementing the Hamiltonian on a programmable quantum simulator is the availability of distinct coupling types, many of which go beyond the conventional ZZ-couplin...
The Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert (LLG) equation provides the fundamental description of dissipative magnetization dynamics. A recently proposed quantum analog, the quantum Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert (QLLG) equation, extends this framework to quantum spin systems. However, whether the QLLG equation recovers the LLG equation in...

We build on the framework for studying systems containing spin-phonon coupling using molecular dynamics as the method for sampling the positions of atoms carrying spins, whose interaction is described by the Heisenberg model, and which we presented in a previous paper Srpak et al. [Phys. Rev. B 112, 205132 (2025)]. In...

Single-ion magnets (SIMs) show promise for high-density storage and quantum computing, but predicting spin-phonon coupling (SPC) and magnetic relaxation remains challenging due to the need for numerous non-equilibrium multiconfigurational calculations. Recent advances in quantum embedding methods offer a potential rout...

We present a method to calculate spin-phonon coupling parameters from first-principles perturbation theory by downfolding the electron-phonon coupling (EPC). We exploit the localized nature of magnetic moments and atomic displacements by working in the Wannier representation of the electronic Hamiltonian and the EPC ma...
