Native Klebsiella and Serratia isolates exhibit potential as bioremediating agents of triclosan - an emerging pharmaceutical and personal care product (PPCPs) pollutant

Pharmaceuticals and Personal Care Products (PPCPs) are now known as pseudo persistent pollutants, which over time can harm the aquatic ecosystem by being released in the environment. Of those, triclosan has been a particular focus due to its environmental persistence, bioaccumulation, toxic transformation products, a...

Evaluating the phytoremediation potential of native plants for potentially toxic elements removal from contaminated soils around artisanal and small-scale gold minings in Tanzania

Although Artisanal and Small-Scale Gold Mining (ASGM) is a vital economic driver in Tanzania, supporting more than 1.5 million livelihoods, it significantly contributes to Potentially Toxic elements (PTEs) contamination, threatening soil health and public safety. This study assessed the phytoremediation potential of in...

Isolation, Molecular Characterization, and Screening for Hydrocarbon-degrading Potential of an Indigenous Enterobacter sp. from Petroleum-contaminated Soil for Bioremediation Applications

The results indicate that indigenous bacteria from chronically hydrocarbon-contaminated soils can show differing relative activities under the screening conditions, with K2 displaying the strongest response among the isolates tested.

Bioremediation of sewage water by microalga Graesiella emersonii for sewage-fed aquaculture in East Kolkata Wetlands, a Ramsar site in India.

Increased nutrient load from industrial and domestic sewage has led to eutrophication and the gradual deterioration of East Kolkata wetland (EKW) fisheries. Thus, the present study investigated the nutrient removal efficiency and physiological responses of Graesiella emersonii MN877773, a native chlorophyte strain, cul...
