Fusarium head blight (FHB), primarily caused by Fusarium graminearum, is a devastating disease of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) worldwide. It results in bleached heads and shriveled, mycotoxin-contaminated, tombstone-shaped grain, reducing both yield and grain quality. This report evaluated fungicide efficacy and application timing for FHB management in soft red winter wheat ‘Shirley’ in Georgetown, Delaware, in 2025. Disease incidence and severity, Fusarium-damaged kernels, yield, and deoxynivalenol levels were evaluated for all treatments. Results from these trials will help advise U.S. wheat growers in developing effective FHB management strategies to reduce yield losses and mycotoxin contamination in wheat.
Fusarium head blight (FHB), primarily caused by Fusarium graminearum, is a devastating disease of barley (Hordeum vulgare) worldwide. It results in bleached heads and shriveled, mycotoxin-contaminated grain, reducing both yield and grain quality. This report evaluates fungicide efficacy for FHB control in winter maltin...

Fusarium head blight (FHB), caused mainly by Fusarium graminearum, is a serious disease affecting barley (Hordeum vulgare) worldwide. It leads to bleached heads and shriveled grain contaminated with mycotoxins, resulting in reduced yield and grain quality. This report assesses the effectiveness of fungicides for contro...

Stripe rust caused by Puccinia striiformis var. tritici is a disease that causes yield losses across wheat production acres in the U.S and Canada. Stripe rust forms yellow to orange pustules in a stripe on wheat leaves. This study aimed to determine the efficacy of ten fungicides in suppression of stripe rust on the so...

Botrytis leaf blight (BLB) and Stemphylium leaf blight (SLB), caused by Botrytis squamosa and Stemphylium vesicarium, respectively, are common leaf diseases of dry bulb onion ( Allium cepa) in the ‘muck’ soil production regions of New York. These diseases cause leaf spotting and leaf dieback that may reduce bulb size a...

Whether the extracts of Fomes fomentarius, Ganoderma applanatum and Trametes versicolor can inhibit the growth of Fusarium graminearum in vitro, reduce the severity of Fusarium head blight (FHB) and reduce fungal colonization of wheat seeds artificially infected with this pathogen were the questions that initiated this...
Cercospora leaf spot (CLS), caused by the fungal pathogen Cercospora beticola, is a devastating foliar disease in sugar beet (Beta vulgaris) leading to yield loss. CLS is characterized by small, tan-brown to gray necrotic spots with darker borders present on the foliage. This report evaluates field data of genetically...
