Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) production is severely constrained by Fusarium wilt caused by Fusarium oxysporum, a soil-borne pathogen that disrupts vascular tissues and reduces plant growth and productivity. Although synthetic fungicides are widely used, their environmental impacts have encouraged the development of sustainable alternatives. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of citronella (Cymbopogon citratus) essential oil as a botanical pesticide for suppressing Fusarium wilt and improving tomato plant growth under greenhouse conditions. The experiment employed a Randomized Block Design consisting of five treatments (0, 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, and 1.00% Lemongrass) with five replications. Disease incidence and plant height were measured, and the data were analyzed using analysis of variance followed by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test at the 5% significance level. The results showed that Lemongrass significantly reduced disease incidence while enhancing plant growth. The 1.00% treatment produced the lowest disease incidence (10.00%) and the greatest plant height (25.00 cm), whereas the control treatment exhibited 100.00% disease incidence and the lowest plant height (7.00 cm). These findings indicate that citronella essential oil is a promising environmentally friendly botanical pesticide for managing Fusarium wilt while supporting tomato growth.
Anthracnose caused by Colletotrichum sp. is one of the most destructive diseases affecting red chili pepper (Capsicum annuum L.), resulting in significant yield losses. Although synthetic fungicides are commonly used to control the disease, their prolonged application may cause environmental pollution and harmful resid...

Tomato production is severely affected by bacterial wilt caused by Ralstonia solanacearum. This study assessed the biocontrol potential of bacterial strains isolated from the cladodes, roots, and rhizosphere of Opuntia dillenii for the sustainable management of bacterial wilt in tomato. An in vitro screening identified...

Tuberose (Polianthes tuberosa L.) is a commercially important ornamental crop valued for its attractive flowers and pleasant fragrance. However, its productivity is severely affected by the root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita, which contribute to nearly 10% of global yield reduction in tuberose. The present study...

Pea is an important legume crop widely cultivated for its nutritional and economic value. Its production is often limited by wilt disease caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. pisi, a soil-borne fungal pathogen that can lead to severe yield losses. In the present study, the field demonstrations were conducted during Rabi...

The present study evaluates the efficacy of four Trichoderma species, namely T. harzianum, T. viride, T. asperellum, and T. hamatum, against M. incognita in chilli (Capsicum annuum) cv. NS-1701-DS under polyhouse pot conditions. Inoculation of Meloidogyne incognita 1500 J2/pot reduced the plant growth and yield of chil...

Anthracnose caused by Colletotrichum sp. is one of the major diseases limiting red chili pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) production. The continuous use of synthetic fungicides has raised concerns regarding environmental contamination and the development of pathogen resistance, highlighting the need for safer and more susta...
