THE EFFECT OF COST CONTROL TECHNIQUES ON QUALITY DELIVERY IN CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS WITHIN BAUCHI, BAUCHI STATE
Abstract
The construction industry is vital to economic development, particularly in emerging economies like Nigeria. The major objective of this study is to evaluate the effect of cost control techniques on quality delivery in construction projects within Bauchi, Bauchi State. The specific objectives of the study are: To identify the various cost control techniques used in construction projects within Bauchi, to examine problems encountered by contractors in managing construction cost, and to assess the effect of cost control techniques use in construction project within Bauchi. The analysis was carried out using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) Version 26. The data presentation follows the research objectives and questionnaire sections, comprising descriptive and inferential statistical analyses. A total of 92 questionnaires were administered and all were returned duly completed, representing a 100% response rate. Based on the findings, the study concludes that cost control techniques play a critical role in determining the quality of construction projects in Bauchi. The consistent application of methods such as budgeting and forecasting, cash flow analysis, variance analysis, and value engineering ensures optimal use of resources, adherence to project specifications, and timely delivery.
