Abstract
When the latest updated Türkiye Earthquake Hazard Map and Active Fault Maps are examined, it is seen that a large part of Türkiye's surface area is at earthquake risk. With increasing urbanization, the majority of the population lives in cities built on active earthquake faults. The 7.8 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş, Pazarcık, and Elbistan occurred in Türkiye on February 6, 2023, and caused significant loss of life and major damage in 10 provinces. In the damage assessment studies conducted after the earthquakes, it was determined that the damage in structures constructed with tunnel formwork systems was less than the damage in other structural systems. The importance of seismic isolators in such a severe earthquake was once again revealed. Within the scope of this study, the earthquake performance of mid-rise buildings constructed with tunnel formwork systems and mid-rise buildings constructed with reinforced concrete carcass construction systems was compared with and without isolators for different soil classes. When the obtained results were examined, it was observed that the earthquake performance of the structures constructed with the tunnel formwork system was better than that of the structures constructed with the reinforced concrete frame structure system and that in cases where a seismic isolator was used, the isolator positively affected the forces acting on the structure and the structure displacements.
Post-earthquake field investigations provide significant contributions to earthquake-resistant building design. Especially after devastating earthquakes, determining the damage levels in buildings is an important issue for structural engineering. The Kahramanmaraş earthquake, which occurred on 6 February 2023, had a de...

This study investigates the effects of vertical ground motion on the seismic design of base-isolated structures. Two soil classes were considered, and for each class, near-fault and far-fault ground motions were selected, resulting in four seismic scenarios. Earthquake acceleration records were identified for each scen...

The consideration of consecutive seismic events remains a notable deficiency within current seismic design practices for engineering structures. The progressive accumulation of damage from an earthquake sequence poses a significant risk to the structural integrity of buildings, even those designed to exhibit ductile se...
The vulnerability of existing reinforced concrete building in India has been exposed to recent earthquakes. The Bhuj earthquake (2001) has caused significant damage to multi-story buildings in Gujarat's urban area. The many existing Indian RC buildings, mainly designed for gravity loads, were seriously threatened. Foll...
It is an established fact that a considerable number of natural disasters occur on a global scale. The occurrence of natural disasters is subject to variation according to the geological location of the respective countries. Turkey is a country that is surrounded by fault lines. Therefore, the occurrence of earthquakes...

The Hatay province, which was most affected by the 6 February 2023 Kahramanmaraş earthquakes, causing significant losses in both Türkiye and Syria, is the main study area of this research. Furthermore, following this pair of earthquakes, Hatay became the province with the most structural and geotechnical damage. The lo...
