A sustainable and personalized 3D bioprinting approach that combines renewable materials, biomimicry-based scaffold design, intelligent printing technology, and environmentally friendly processes is proposed that uses fewer resources than traditional synthetic bio-inks.

Abstract

Three-dimensional bioprinting has ushered in a new era in tissue engineering by enabling the creation of highly precise biomimetic scaffolds. But issues pertaining to mechanical robustness, cellular viability, immuno-compatibility, and sustainability continue to pose obstacles towards clinical application. In this paper, we propose a sustainable and personalized 3D bioprinting approach that combines renewable materials, biomimicry-based scaffold design, intelligent printing technology, and environmentally friendly processes. A blend of bio-inks comprising alginate, fish gelatin, nanocellulose, and chitosan was designed to achieve optimal structural and biological properties. Personalised scaffolds were created based on CT/MRI scan images, whereas the Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) typing was used for designing immunocompatible structures. Generative designs helped create hierarchically structured porous biomaterials to improve nutrient diffusion. Experiments confirmed high accuracy, enhanced structural properties, and cell viability over 90that our approach uses fewer resources than traditional synthetic bio-inks. Index Terms 3D bioprinting, tissue scaffolds, sustainable bio- inks, biomimicry, personalized design, regenerative medicine, artificial intelligence.
