Abstract
Highly crystalline semiconducting covalent organic frameworks (COFs) were synthesized from two isomeric tetrathienonaphthalene (TTN) nodes via transimination polymerization. The use of functionalized Schiff-base monomers proved critical for overcoming the low solubility of TTN-tetracarbaldehydes, enabling the solvothermal synthesis of four imine COFs with phenyl or biphenyl linkers. Systematic optimization of amine precursors yielded COFs with very high crystallinity (fwhm1002θ ≈ 0.26°) and porosity (BET surface area up to ∼1660 m2/g). Powder X-ray diffraction combined with DFT modeling revealed oblique lattice stacking and allowed experimental distinction between s-Z and s-E conformations of the imine linkage. Thin films grown on ITO substrates were used to fabricate bilayer photovoltaic diodes with a nonfullerene acceptor IT-4F. Although luminescence quenching (∼50%) suggests appreciable charge separation in these heterojunctions, the power conversion efficiency (0.1%–0.2%) was limited by the low charge mobility of the COF film.
ABSTRACT Electrically conductive two‐dimensional covalent organic frameworks (2D COFs) have emerged as a versatile class of crystalline porous polymers with promising applications in electronics and energy storage. However, high electrical conductivity generally relies on post‐synthetic doping to generate charge carrie...

Interlayer alignment holds a pivotal role for layered materials in tailoring their physical properties and chemical activities. Herein, we designed and synthesized a D2h-symmetric pyrene-derived monomer with four methyl substituents adjacent to the two nitrogen atoms embedded at the 2,7-positions of its molecular perip...

Despite extensive research on dysprosium-based single-molecule magnets (SMMs), the deliberate incorporation of alkali-metal ions, such as lithium, as structure-directing components remains relatively unexplored. Herein, the reaction of an electron-rich lithiated Schiff-base ligand with DyCl3 afforded tetranuclear het...
Cyano groups have been widely used in polymeric donor materials and acceptor–donor–acceptor (A–D–A)-type nonfullerene acceptors. However, they have not yet been introduced into PDI-based materials. To fill this research gap, we synthesized a ring-fused cyanated PDI trimer as the nonfullerene acceptors in organic sola...
