Abstract

This study provides a thorough bibliometric analysis of research on knowledge management (KM) and innovation published between 1998 and 2025 using information obtained from the Scopus database. This study aims to map the field's thematic evolution, research productivity, and intellectual organisation across almost 27 years. Bibliometric methods such as science mapping and performance analysis were used to examine 145 documents in total. The findings show a consistent increase in publication output, with a noticeable pick-up after 2015, indicating the growing significance of knowledge management as a catalyst for innovation in the digital economy. The most prolific nations are China, Malaysia, Spain, UK and USA. Studies that receive a lot of citations concentrate on absorptive ability, intellectual capital, information sharing, and the mediating function of innovation performance. From philosophical foundations in the early 2000 s to more technology-focused themes in subsequent years, such as artificial intelligence, Industry 4.0, and digital transformation, keyword co-occurrence analysis reveals a change. By highlighting significant authors, journals, and new research areas, this study adds to the body of knowledge and provides insightful information for academics, industry professionals, and decision-makers who want to promote KM-driven innovation tactics.

Risk and Innovation In Technology Startups: Mapping The Intellectual Structure and Future Research Directions

This study maps the development, intellectual structure, and emerging research directions of literature on risk and innovation in technology startups. Using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) framework, 54 Q1 Scopus-indexed articles published between 2022 and 2026 were selected from 77 initial records. Bibliometric analysis was conducted using publication and citation analysis, keyword co-occurrence, reference co-citation, and country co-authorship, with VOSviewer and SCImago Graphica used for network and geographical visualization. The findings show that publication activity increased after 2023, while the literature remains dispersed across journals and concentrated in several countries, particularly China, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Spain. Keyword analysis identifies a conceptual structure connecting innovation, venture capital, investment, technology adoption, digital innovation, artificial intelligence, sustainability, and technological development. Co-citation analysis shows that the field draws on resource-based, dynamic capability, entrepreneurship, and venture capital perspectives. International collaboration is present but remains divided across several country clusters. These findings indicate that research on risk and innovation in technology startups has developed through multiple connected but only partially integrated streams. This study contributes by organizing the field’s conceptual, intellectual, and collaboration structures and by identifying future research opportunities related to conceptual integration, emerging technology risk, financing, startup ecosystems, and methodological development.

MAPPING THE INTELLECTUAL STRUCTURE OF OPEN INNOVATION IN SMEs: A BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS (2009–2025)

This study provides a bibliometric analysis of research on open innovation in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) over the period 2009–2025. Using a dataset of 500 journal articles indexed in the Web of Science, the study maps the field’s intellectual structure, publication trends, influential sources, leading authors, country productivity, collaboration patterns, and thematic evolution. The results show a steady growth in scientific production, particularly after 2017, indicating the increasing consolidation of open innovation in SMEs as a distinct research domain. The literature concentrates on a limited number of influential journals, especially Technovation and Technological Forecasting and Social Change, while a small group of highly cited publications forms the conceptual foundation of the field. Thematic analysis reveals that the field is primarily structured around open innovation, SMEs, performance, research and development, absorptive capacity, and knowledge. Thematic evolution further indicates a shift from foundational concerns related to firm performance, manufacturing, and strategy towards more recent interests in business models, eco-innovation, digitalization, and empirical contextualization.

Exploring the Effects of Corporate Digital Transformation: A Bibliometric Analysis and Future Research Agenda

This study uses a hybrid methodology of bibliometric analysis and systematic review to critically review the existing research on corporate digital transformation (CDT) effects published between 2018 and 2025. Descriptive analysis shows that this research field was still in its infancy before 2022 and experienced an explosive growth period thereafter. China takes the lead in publication volume, while Finance Research Letters emerges as the most prolific journal and research results are predominantly concentrated in domains such as finance and economics. Keyword and thematic analysis indicate that “digital transformation” is the core keyword, and research themes have gradually expanded from basic dimensions like firm performance to diverse areas including ESG, supply chain management, and risk management. The evolution of CDT effects research proceeds along the lines of technological determinism, organizational adaptation, and social construction. This study advances a systematic understanding of the CDT effects by developing a bibliometric overview of relevant research and illustrating the field's conceptual framework and thematic interconnections. The findings offer empirical insights to guide managers in formulating differentiated digital strategies and assist policymakers in constructing supportive ecosystems for digital transformation.

Mapping Sustainable Business Research from 2015 to 2025 Using Bibliometric Analysis

This study provides a bibliometric overview of sustainable business research published between 2015 and 2025. Bibliographic data were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection and included English-language articles and review articles. Following data screening and cleaning, 4,317 publications were retained for analysis. Performance indicators were combined with science mapping techniques using VOSviewer to examine publication growth, influential contributors, international collaboration, thematic structure, and emerging research topics. Scientific production increased continuously from 128 publications in 2015 to 831 publications in 2025, with nearly seventy percent of the documents published during the final five years of the period. China recorded the largest publication output, while England displayed the strongest overall international collaboration. The country co-authorship network included 51 countries organized into five clusters. Keyword co-occurrence analysis identified 260 terms grouped into five interconnected thematic clusters addressing organizational performance, corporate responsibility and governance, technological transformation, sustainable business model innovation, and organizational capabilities. The temporal analysis revealed growing attention to environmental, social, and governance practices, disclosure, digital transformation, dynamic capabilities, and small and medium-sized enterprises. The findings demonstrate that sustainable business has developed into a rapidly expanding and internationally connected research field that increasingly integrates strategic, technological, environmental, and organizational perspectives.
