Abstract

Instructional leadership is essential for fostering teacher growth and enhancing student performance, particularly within faith-based institutions where academic rigor is integrated with moral and spiritual formation. This qualitative multiple-case study investigated the instructional leadership practices of eight school leaders in selected Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP)-affiliated schools in Cebu, examining how their practices support teacher professional development and holistic student learning. Guided by Yin’s case study framework, data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed using cross-case thematic analysis. The findings revealed three core dimensions of leadership practice: leadership presence and instructional stewardship, characterized by leader visibility and standards-based accountability; teacher capacity building through relational support, driven by structured mentoring, collaborative learning, and compassionate guidance; and holistic student development, focused on academic engagement, inclusive support, and character formation. These results demonstrate that while individual management styles vary, effective instructional leadership in faith-based environments seamlessly fuses professional supervision with relational and spiritual care. By illustrating how Catholic school leaders balance rigorous standards with moral stewardship, this study contributes a contextualized, values-driven model to the broader educational leadership literature. Ultimately, the study highlights the necessity of holistic, relationship-centered leadership in sustaining both teacher growth and values-integrated academic excellence.
