Abstract
Invasive gastrointestinal aspergillosis is rare and typically occurs in immunocompromised hosts. We present a case of a 24-year-old man with intermittent corticosteroid use presenting with diarrhea and abdominal pain found to have toxic megacolon on imaging. He developed colonic necrosis and perforation requiring emergent colectomy. Histopathology revealed invasive Aspergillus with transmural necrosis. His course was complicated by septic shock, acute kidney injury requiring dialysis, and pulmonary candidiasis. Primary colonic aspergillosis in immunocompetent patients is exceedingly uncommon. This case highlights the importance of early consideration of invasive fungal infection and prompt antifungal treatment in a patient with fulminant colitis unresponsive to standard therapy.
Gastrointestinal mucormycosis is a rare but life-threatening invasive fungal infection affecting immunocompromised individuals. Emphysematous gastritis is a rare, fulminant manifestation with high mortality. We report a case of a woman in her 80s with multiple comorbidities, including diabetes mellitus and necrotizin...

ABSTRACT Mixed pulmonary infection by Aspergillus and Mucorales is a rare condition but highly fatal in immunocompromised hosts. We report a 61‐year‐old diabetic man with diabetic kidney disease who presented with fever and cough. Bronchoscopy‐guided lung biopsy and lavage MUCOR 28S PCR assay confirmed dual invasive As...

Endobronchial aspergillosis (EBA) is an uncommon manifestation of Aspergillus airway disease characterized by fungal involvement of the tracheobronchial lumen. It may present with non‐specific respiratory symptoms, including dyspnea, cough and hemoptysis, and can mimic endoluminal airway tumours. Predisposing factors i...

We present a rare case of colonic mucormycosis with hepatic dissemination after kidney transplantation. Early diagnosis was achieved through rapid metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) of blood and liver abscess samples, enabling timely intervention. The patient achieved complete clinical recovery with preserve...

Solobacterium moorei is an anaerobic Gram-positive bacillus, part of the normal oral and intestinal microbiota, and is infrequently implicated in systemic infections. We report a rare case of S. moorei bacteraemia in a 64-year-old man with chronic right lower limb elephantiasis and multiple metabolic comorbidities. The...
