Abstract
Elevated levels of tetracycline antibiotics (TCs) in animal-derived foods threaten human health, necessitating effective residue monitoring. Herein, Eu-doped g-C3N4 fluorescence probe was prepared via high-temperature solid-phase method. Upon interaction with four TCs, g-C3N4's blue fluorescence was quenched by inner filter effect and static quenching. Simultaneously, the Eu3+ red fluorescence was enhanced through an antenna effect, owing to complexation between Eu3+ and the β-diketone/enol structures of TCs. This probe exhibited differential ratiometric responses and a sensitivity order of oxytetracycline (OTC) > tetracycline (TC) > doxycycline (DOX) > chlortetracycline (CTC), producing distinct blue to variable color changes for visual discrimination of TCs. Limits of detection were 1.00, 2.18, 3.51 and 23.66 nM for OTC, TC, DOX and CTC, respectively. A smartphone-integrated hydrogel sensor was also developed for on-site visual detection of TCs in food samples. This study offers a promising strategy for portable and real-time monitoring of antibiotic residues in food.
The overuse of antibiotics has caused significant accumulation of tetracyclines (TCs) residues in the food chain, posing serious health risks. A europium- and iron-co-doped metal-organic framework (Fe/Eu-MOFs) was synthesized using a one-pot hydrothermal strategy. The Fe/Eu-MOFs demonstrate intense red fluorescence emi...

The abuse of ciprofloxacin (CIP) in animal husbandry poses a threat to public health. In this study, a novel dual-mode sensing platform based on dual-emissive carbon quantum dots (DE-CQDs) combining ratiometric fluorescence and smartphone-assisted visualization was developed for the first time for rapid, ultra-sensitiv...
The development of reliable and portable dual-emission fluorescent platforms is highly desirable for real-time environmental pollutant monitoring. In this work, a Eu3+-functionalized Cd-based metal-organic framework (Eu3+@Cd-MOF) probe was prepared via a post-synthetic modification strategy. The resulting material exhi...

The sensitive and portable monitoring of tetracycline (TC) is significant for ensuring human and food safety. Herein, a triple-emission ratiometric fluorescent probe of B/RCDs@ZIF-8 was constructed by integrating blue and red fluorescence emission carbon dots (CDs) with ZIF-8 through a one-pot physical mixing method. T...

The excessive use of ofloxacin (OFL) has led to its persistent residues in water sources and animal-derived foods, posing a threat to human health. Therefore, it is urgent to develop fluorescent sensing materials capable of detecting ofloxacin in water environments and food matrices. Herein, a novel Eu3+@tetrafluorosuc...

Given the health risks of tert-butylhydroquinone (TBHQ), rapid, portable, selective, and sensitive quantification in edible oils is critical. With this in mind, a fluorescent "on-off-on" probe was developed based on rationally designed iron-doped carbon dots (CDs). The blue fluorescence of the CDs is quenched by Fe3+ i...
