Abstract
Modern multi-agent collaborative simulations demand more realistic, adaptive, and interpretable computer-generated agents (CGA). Existing models often exhibit rigid behaviors and weak individual differentiation. To address this, we propose a personality-driven cognitive framework that integrates the Big Five model, a task-oriented need hierarchy, valence-based affect modulation, fatigue accumulation, and an interpretable ART-Bev decision-rule learner. The framework realizes a five-layer closed loop spanning cognitive attributes, situation awareness, decision reasoning, behavior execution, and effectiveness evaluation. Its methodological novelty lies in explicitly coupling stable traits, dynamic needs, affect, and fatigue into a compact decision cycle, then compiling learned rules into auditable behavior trees. We evaluate the framework on NetLogo in a multi-agent terrain game. Cross-terrain tests, parameter sensitivity analysis, ablation studies, and dual-expert interpretability validation show consistent gains in task success, terrain transfer robustness, behavioral diversity, interpretability, and runtime efficiency over conventional baselines. The results support the use of personality-driven CGA in complex cooperative and competitive simulation settings.
This work presents the first high-fidelity computational implementation of the Goal-Directed Theory of affect, and establishes a transparent, testable framework that enables a continuous"simulation-empiry"research loop.

Effective human-agent cooperation requires that users form mental models of an agent’s behavioral tendencies. Yet LLM-based virtual agents are inherently stochastic, undermining the behavioral consistency that mental model formation depends on. We introduce the Constraint-Entropy Tradeoff (CET) model, an information-th...

Evaluation of agentic information retrieval remains limited to scripted interactions with uniform users, missing both natural personality diversity and adversarial brittleness. We present AgentWorld, a simulation framework combining (i)Big Five (OCEAN) personality-driven user populations with stateful tool-use environm...

Impulsive consumption is often interpreted as self‐control failure. This study examines whether impulsive choice can also arise as an adaptive exploration strategy under uncertainty. Methodologically, the study uses agent‐based computational simulation, formalizing sequential consumer decisions as a Markov decision p...

This work proposes A-B-D to infer traits bottom-up from behavioral data (B-data), namely how agents act on their environment and communicate with users, as recorded in existing trajectories, and offers a new lens for understanding AI personality.
